We propose to establish the

Action Committee for the Mediterranean

The Mediterranean,

long celebrated as a bridge between civilizations,

is at risk of becoming a barrier.

Rising tensions, economic disparities, and cultural misunderstandings are overshadowing shared histories and common challenges, like demography, energy, climate, and food security.

Embroiled in sterile governmental discussions, we observe passively that the North and South of the Mediterranean are drifting apart politically and diplomatically.

Inspired by the Action Committee for the United States of Europe (CAEUE) created by Jean Monnet, the ACM aims at bridging these divisions through concrete achievements based on de facto solidarities.

Our Method

Inclusivity : we will gather a diverse group of participants, including experts, economists, academics, and civil society representatives, ensuring balanced contributions from across the Mediterranean region.

Collaboration: through informal and discrete annual forums, we plan to address key challenges by exploring technical, practical, and realistic solutions, fostering open and meaningful debate.

Continuity: our permanent secretariat will ensure continuity by producing actionable reports, white papers and facilitating consistent follow-ups, laying the groundwork for the long-term success of our initiatives.

Our Founders

As part of the initial phase, we are currently identifying priority issues to address and selecting key individuals who could make a valuable contribution to the ACM.

We are also looking for organizations from the Mediterranean region, including foundations, think-tanks, universities, and businesses, to constitute the ACM’s founding core.

Finally, we are seeking to raise funds to establish and support the permanent secretariat.

The ACM will be officially launched during an inaugural event scheduled for spring 2025 in Malaga, Spain.
